Oddity in Music

Sometimes, even I have to wonder at the sheer amount of seemingly odd trivia that is in my brain. Take for instance, this song I downloaded the other night. Even though the artist listed was the Dead Milkmen, I knew enough to say without question that it was really King Missile. Now, neither group has ever been mainstream or huge, and for me to know the difference was just a little bizarre. By the way, the song in question was Detachable Penis. I suggest it holeheartedly, if you have never heard it.
Anyways, i have been on a punk kick lately- from newer bands such as Good charlotte and Offspring, to older bands such as the Clash, Dead Milkmen and King Missile. Hell, there has even been a Misfits stretch in there too. I don't know why exactly, maybe the song structure is oversimplistic, but it's fresh, and different. Just listen to songs like London Calling, Ballroom Blitz, Punk Rock Girl, Bad Habit, Detachable Penis (or Martin Scorcese for that matter) and tell me you don't feel moved in some way. Even the Anthem, arguably mainstream emo punk is a good song to groove to. It's just, different. And believe me, if Britney dressed punk I'd be a hell of a lot more attracted to the plastic princess.
Of course, punk isn't the only brand of music I have been listening to. Also, old school rap has been on my mind lately. I recently got MC Hammer- can't Touch this (which i dance to), Partners in Kryme- Turtle Power, Gorillaz- sunshine In A Bag (not really old school, but good nonetheless), and Newcleus- Jam On It. the last is a TRUE classic, and you won't likely find a better song without some serious looking.
Anyways, that's it. music, love it, live it, keep it.
